A description of EVE Online
EVE Online is a space simulation MMORPG developed by CCP Games set in a science fiction persistent universe.
Players pilot spaceships across a galaxy and can travel to 7000 star systems swarming with other player controlled ships, stations, and eventually pirates.
Characters advance by training all sorts of skills: science, combat, trade, social, planetary and more. The skill training advances in real time, even while not logged in EVE Online.
What's different from other MMORPG?
Let's see...
- There are no multiple servers: every pilot plays on a single "shard"
- There are no classes: you can train whatever skill you like anytime
- You can die. A lot. You can lose your ship, items and some of your skill training if you don't have a clone
- It's far more complex and deep than the typical hack and slash fantasy MMORPG
What can you do in EVE Online?
There's a number of in-game activies, here are some of them:
- mine rock asteroids, ice asteroids, gas clouds
- haul and trade items
- explore space to find hidden locations
- research and manufacture ships, ship parts, ammunitions, commodities, stations, etc.
- fight in small skirmishes or full scale player versus player battles
- fight in player versus environment combat
- run PvE missions for agents
- join a corporation and do all of the above with friends
- become a pirate, kill other ships, steal their cargo (and it's not harassment!)
- build planetary structures
- spend the whole time taking ships screenshots...
